Corgi?

It probably won't happen until next year maybe, but my wife and I seem to have come to an agreement on what kind of dog we're willing to settle on. I want a "real" dog - something that you can't pick up with one hand. She wants a yappy little anklebiter. I think we've settled on a Corgi as something in the middle.

Any pros or cons on this breed of dog? Now that I think about it, I guess I should mention that it doesn't need to be a "purebred" or have papers, etc. Any suggestions on a local corgi rescue? Aside from shots and neutering costs I WILL NOT PAY for a dog!
